Traditional Sauna
How the Traditional Sauna Started and How It Differs from Infrared Saunas
Are you considering buying a traditional sauna? In this article we are going to talk about the benefits that you can get from having one of these saunas.
As you know the sauna has been around for thousands of years. The sauna as we think of it originated in Finland and Northern European countries. Original saunas were perhaps more like Native American sweat lodges in that they were covered over pits dug in the ground large enough to hold a family or even a tribe and used rocks heated with a wood fire. It took several hours for the sauna to be ready for use and the smoke had to be released before using. Water would be sprinkled on the hot rocks to make the internal temperature seem warm enough to remove all clothing allowing the users to sweat away their dirt and toxins.
As time went on, traditional sauna structures were built. There were a lot of people that would build them right into their own homes because they needed the benefits that they would get so much. Some villages and towns decided they would leave one that was available for public usage and open so everyone could share the benefits. Let’s now go on to talk about the benefits that you can get from having one of these saunas.
These days the differences between what is considered a traditional sauna and an infrared sauna have mostly to do with the temperature achieved by each. A traditional sauna will heat up to about 195 degrees whereas an infrared sauna will only get to about 120 to 150 degrees. For this reason, a traditional sauna can be more costly to operate if you use an electric heater in it. Personally I feel a “real” traditional sauna is one that heats rocks with a wood fire. However, that can be quite costly, messy and a real pain to operate within city limits.
The benefits that you can get from a traditional sauna can go from little to huge benefits. No matter what I am sure that you would even take the small ones if it would rid you of pain or other symptoms that were bothering you.
Did you know that you could actually become sick less often when you use one of these saunas? The high radiant heat temperature that comes out of the heating unit will kill bacteria and some studies even show that it also increases antioxidants which protect the body’s cells. Besides for those awesome health benefits it has also been shown to reduce blood pressure and over all stress.
What is better than coming in from a long hard day at work and then just letting all of the stress melt right off of you in a traditional sauna? If you ask me that sounds just great but you will also love the deep body cleansing that happens when you use a traditional sauna on a regular basis.
There are a lot of health spas or clubs that you may get these benefits from when you go to their sauna. But why would you want to have to go during their open hours and use it by their rules?
When you get a sauna of your own you can use it when you want to and how you want to without having to worry about who might have some sort of fuss over what you are doing. The privacy and availability that you get from having your own traditional sauna is an awesome perk that should not be overlooked.
